MRC 1990 Saturday 14 APR
MRC IV EASTER 1990
Dear MRC Member,
Firstly I would like to welcome you to the fourth Mountain Radio Challenge, and hope that you are able to enjoy your participation in this event.
Secondly I would like to outline a few basics.
1 - Main Objective
The main objective of this event is to relay a message from MRC 01 to MRC 08 and a response from MRC 08 to MRC 01. This message is to be transmitted over 27 MHz as a preference or if contact over 27 MHz is not possible then send the message via UHF with simplex transmission as a preference over repeaters.
2 - Public Relations Work
Please try to be friendly with the locals, we need good publicity not bad publicity. If people are still unfriendly tell them you will only be there for the night, and you will try not to interfere with them. Most people will be helpful once you tell them what you are doing. If they are very interested get a postal address of them and we could include them in the next MRC.
3 - Recording of Information
Could you please keep a record of any information which you believe could benefit us in the future. Record things such as repeater access, simplex coverage, 27 MHz coverage, interference (local, natural or DX), road conditions, names/callsigns of local people.
I hope that we can make this event a success, and hope to gain much experience for future challenges. Above all, don't forget to ENJOY yourself, although make sure you are still able to communicate with the other stations and operate your equipment.
Happy QSOing
